Equipment

Ingredients

  • 8 tbsp Unsalted Butter Softened
  • 4 1/2 cups Powdered Sugar
  • 3 tbsp Organic Whole Milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl combine powdered sugar and softened butter until no lumps are visible
  • You can make homemade powdered sugar by mixing by blending 1 cup of cane sugar with 1 tablespoon of cornstarch in a food processor until fine. This also works with monk fruit granules if you're reducing refined sugar.
  • Stir in milk and vanilla extract and mix until smooth
  • Scoop or pour mixture in a pouch for decoration
  • A plastic sandwhich bag with the corner snipped will also work to decorate your favorite baked goods.

Notes

Once you have your base frosting, a few drops of food-grade essential oil or some fresh zest can take it in a completely different direction. Here are some of our favorite combinations:
  • Lavendar Frosting with Blueberry Muffins
  • Orange Frosting with Cranberry scones
  • Lemon Frosting with Poppyseed or Pumpkin Loaf
These flavors pair beautifully together, and they make the whole house smell incredible while you're baking. Highly recommend making these with coffee on a slow Saturday morning
